State Representative Jennifer Haase taught in Warren Woods Public Schools for more than a decade before coming to the Capitol. She has lived in Macomb County her entire life
Since beginning her first term, Haase has hit the ground running, fighting to create jobs for Michigan's hard-working residents and working to reform state government.
Haase proposed slashing the salaries of lawmakers – including her own – and other top elected officials by 10 percent to cut state spending and ensure elected officials are sharing in the sacrifice that families across Michigan are making. Both the House and Senate approved her plan.
As a member of the House Education Committee, Haase is working to make sure that our schools have the resources they need to prepare every child to compete for good-paying jobs in the 21st century global economy.
Haase also supported alterative energy tax credits in order to help five world-class advanced battery companies create 6,600 Michigan jobs and strengthen the state's position as a magnet for emerging industries.
When she's not in Lansing, Haase is dedicated to meeting as many constituents as possible by hosting informal coffee hours and town hall meetings and knocking on thousands of doors.
Haase lives in Richmond with her husband, Robert, a firefighter and paramedic for the city of Sterling Heights. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Alma College and a master's in reading and language arts from Oakland University.
